Hello, my name is Andrew. This is my blog about Edinburgh and it’s politics. I’m Chair of
@TollcrossCC Community Council, an art loving, avid photographer, Scottish Green Party member. Say hello as you pass by…
I was born and raised in Cumbria, not the Lakes, but near the coast, within an extended family of farmers – an idyllic countryside childhood.
After studying photography in Newcastle, I lived and worked around the North East for ten years all in all. Newcastle upon Tyne is a great city with a big river, known for its many bridges Many places around the North East are special to me; Durham City and the Cathedral, Northumberland – Lindesfarne and Tynemouth to name a few.
I then moved to Edinburgh, a city I have visited often over the years and loved. Its wide vista’s from the new town, to the winding streets of the old town are unique and won me over. In 1995 Visit Scotland ran this advert which tugged at the heart strings. Still does. I did visit Scotland, many times and in 2002 I finally came at last to live, and now 15 years on I’ve no desire to leave – I still love Edinburgh.
Personally I enjoy art, design, architecture, and photography. I am the Chair of Tollcross Community Council, that put local views and opinions to the Council, working to improve the area and get some stuff done to make Tollcross an even better place to live.
I’m an member of the Scottish Green Party, and am actively engaged in local politics in Edinburgh.
